As a woman, I draw profound inspiration from body image, particularly within the world of fashion. While beauty and fashion are undeniably captivating industries, they often conceal behind-the-scenes moments that remain hidden from the public eye. Through my work, I aim to capture the duality of being a woman—the external beauty celebrated by society and the internal loneliness often felt within the industry. For my studio art class portfolio, I created a series of pieces that delve into this intricate dynamic. Using my photography as a foundation, I incorporated hand-collaging techniques, juxtaposing images and text to reflect both the allure and the unhealthiness pervasive in the fashion world. My work explores themes of beauty, identity, and the pressures faced by women, bringing to light the often overlooked struggles behind the glamorous facade. This project is a deeply personal endeavor, inspired by my own experiences and observations. By sharing it here, I hope to foster a broader conversation about the complexities of womanhood in the context of fashion, and to highlight the beauty found not only in our external appearance but also in our resilience and strength.
